Career Navigation

What if I don’t know what I want to do?

While some students enroll in college knowing what they want to do when they graduate – most do not know, and that is okay. College allows space and time to explore your interests and skills, to engage guidance and mentorship. College is a great place to figure out what you want to do with your life. You try different things and are exposed to new cultures and ideas; all of these experiences help to influence what you will go on to do with your professional career.

The Career Center offers tools to help you understand not only your work type and career interests, but also to give you language to describe what you want out of your career.

Along with understanding yourself, it is vital to have a good handle on your industry of interest. The Career Center can help you research various careers and the labor market information that goes with them, such as:

  • Average wages earned
  • Industry growth outlook
  • Training needed to be successful
  • Skills needed on the job

Navigation is as essential in your career development as it is in sailing a ship or driving cross-country – there are many ways to get where you are going, but it is usually a better trip when you are navigating with a map or GPS. We will work with you to design a career plan that will give practical steps to develop a career you will love.
