The Singing Games: An Open House with the JourneyKids Choir

The Community Music School at Southwestern College’s JourneyKids Choir will be hosting an open house/rehearsal on Thursday, October 13th from 5:30-6:00pm. “Open houses are a wonderful opportunity for students and families to attend a rehearsal, experience our program, and have a little fun in the process,” stated, Dylan Moore, CMS Director. The theme of the open house is The Singing Games, and students will have the opportunity to learn new songs and musical games with their peers. "This open house will be a fun experience for children, teachers, and parents who enjoy music!,” states group director Nikki Kirk, “Everyone is encouraged to come and experience the joy of JourneyKids."

The CMS JourneyKids Choir, now open to students grades 2-8, is a new choral opportunity for students of all experience levels from South Central Kansas and the Walnut Valley. The JourneyKids Choir will have a final enrollment following the open house, which will be the last time for students to join the group for our fall 2016 semester. The group’s culminating fall performance is a winter concert with the Southwestern College Performing Arts Division in Richardson Performing Arts Center in December.

Regular rehearsals take place in Darbeth Rehearsal Hall on the Southwestern College Campus on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm. The fee per semester for involvement in the group is $10.00/month with a total cost of $40.00 per student. Partial need-based tuition scholarships are available.
We invite any students, parents, and teachers of the community for an informative and enlivening experience with our wonderful young singers. For more information, interested individuals may contact CMS Director, Dylan Moore, by phone at 620-229-6188 or by email at Dylan.moore@sckans.edu.
